Don HooverDONALD K. HOOVERSherman Lawyer

Don Hoover came to Sherman with a resume that allows him to take on any civil matter of the most complex nature. His training in private and governmental practice has equipped him to handle cases with a broad perspective. In private practice, Don's main clients were private and governmental prisons and state governmental agencies. As you can imagine, issues and disputes regarding construction, management, contracts, personal injuries, employment, and individual rights within prisons and state agencies, take on monumental proportions. After leaving private practice, Don started his own practice representing corporate entities in litigation and collection cases. However, his practice was cut short when he was called to duty to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

As you can imagine, this was quite a blow to a family man with a new business but as a 21 year Marine he knew what he had to do. From guarding Timothy McVeigh, as a federal prison guard, to leading Marines in the field, Don has the abilities that call him to be placed in difficult situations. On his last trip to Iraq, as he had in the first Gulf War, Don fought bravely winning a Purple Heart, The Distinguished Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Achievement Medal with Valor distinction. When Don retired in 2007 his men awarded him with the flag that flew over their base in Iraq. The flag was saved for him even after he left Iraq. This was an unprecedented event and reflects the character, leadership, and tenacity.

When Don returned home, the Attorney General's Office of Oklahoma recruited Don to handle their complex construction litigation that took Don all over the world. Don's service to the State of Oklahoma was a building block and cornerstone to his ability to evaluate and win cases. All of the preparation required to sue and collect from multi-million dollar contracting firms that had mishandled projects allowed him to cover the gamut of strategy, evidentiary, planning/preparation, and trial techniques. There is no civil issue to big or to small for this man.

If you have a civil dispute or an injury that requires an in-depth understanding and scope of review, preparation and technique, you have found the right office. Don can take an issue that looks very bad to most and develop it into something that makes people understand why it happened, and why it should be resolved in the fashion you desire. I've seen it hundreds of times, and I've seen the "bull headed" and "pile-driving" approach he uses to let everyone involved know they are dealing with a Marine.

He has added a whole new dimension to my office and we are growing leaps and bounds because of it. We look forward to getting to know you, helping you, and winning your case.
